Experience & Expertise

Laura describes herself as being born and raised professionally at Disney; in fact, Laura’s first job at Disney was the driver of a double-decker bus at World Showcase in Epcot Center. With hard work and persistence, Laura traded in her polyester costume for a suit, when she landed a job in HR. In her first professional role at Disney, she recruited nationwide for the highly competitive Walt Disney World College Program, led the recreation recruiting and staffing efforts for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach water parks, and staffed up Disney’s Animal Kingdom for its inaugural launch. (Watching the construction of the Tree of Life was awe-inspiring, to say the least.)

Post Disney, Laura went on to work for America Online, where she developed and launched AOL’s college internship program, hiring more than 100 MBA interns in its first year alone. She also coached hundreds of employees—from entry-level to executive—on how to fit in, stand out, and move up in the company and in their careers.

Laura combined her in-depth, diverse HR experience with her skill and love of career coaching to form The Career Strategy. As Chief Executive Officer, Laura now utilizes her contagious enthusiasm and powerful job search methodology to create the perfect recipe for a short job search. Equal parts kick-butt trainer and nurturing cheerleader, she and her team empower their clients to develop proactive, targeted job search marketing plans that increase momentum and achieve breakthrough results.

In the Media

Laura’s easy-to-implement approach has garnered the attention of many national news outlets, such as The Washington Post, U.S. News & World Report, USA Today, The Chicago Tribune, and Monster.com.

Additionally, Laura is the co-author of the book, 100 Conversations for Career Success: Learn to Network, Cold-Call, and Tweet Your Way to Your Dream Job. The acclaimed work is targeted toward people searching for a job and focuses on the topic of “what to say and how to say it” in your job hunt.

Personal

Laura has been told that she has pixie dust in her blood. As a former, amateur nightclub singer, Laura applies this bit of magic to every aspect of her life—professional and personal. When Laura is not helping her job search clients land a job faster, she can be found laughing with her children, reading dark novels, spending time on a boat on a lake (preferably in Michigan), or trying to convince her husband that they should, once again, take a trip to Walt Disney World.

UntitledMichelle Glick – Operations Manager

Vital to The Career Strategy Group’s leadership team is the skill and talent of Michelle Glick, Operations Manager. Michelle spearheads The Career Strategy Group’s corporate outplacement program, implements client satisfaction processes, and directs payroll and benefits.

As an organization expert, technology guru, and customer-service devotee, she ensures the smooth operation of our resume writing and outplacement projects, all the while instilling job seekers and HR managers with the confidence that they are in phenomenal hands.

Experience & Expertise

With a master’s degree in special education, Michelle began her career as an elementary school teacher with special education kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students. Post teaching, Michelle earned a reputation as the go-to person for all things organization, and was recruited as an administrative assistant at ChanTest, a biotechnology company that manufactures cell lines. In her role, she became respected for whipping the office into shape. (A trait she still wholeheartedly uses here at The Career Strategy Group!) While at ChanTest she went on to execute training programs, manage executive schedules, and run the office in full. After ChanTest relocated to Cleveland, Michelle transitioned to her management position at The Career Strategy Group (fortunately for us).

Personal

When Michelle is not working, she can be found reading a book about time-travel, baking, spending time with her family, or organizing somebody’s junk drawer!
